EQ: How did Ancient Greece develop and impact the modern world?
Greece is awesome because of all the greek gods and myths they worshipped. Some of the Greek gods and goddesses include Zeus, Athena, Poseidon,Hades, Aphrodite, Ares, and lots more. Another way Ancient Greece was awesome is they developed the first form of a democracy. This is vital to our modern day because America might not be like we are today without the Greeks. Also what I think is awesome about Greece is that it has over 2000 islands!

How did geography shape Greek life?
Greece includes the mainland and 2000 plus islands so you better have a good navy. A group of people called the Mycenaean's settled on greek mainland and dominated Greece from 1600-1100 B.C. During the Mycenaeans rule they fought a war with the city of Troy which was known as the Trojan war, it was once thought as fictional but evidence has been found. This war took place in 1200 B.C. Then there was Homer who was blind, he told oral stories which became known as the Epics of Homer. The Dorians were the people who took over the Mycenaeans around 1200 BCE. The Dorians were less advanced and were not educated so they left no records of life. The greeks created myths that they created to better understand life, these included the Greek gods like Zeus and Athena.

How are Modern Political systems related to Greek city-states?

Which means both the Modern Political system and the Greek City-States are both Democracy's. The greeks had Polis's which were a city and its surrounding villages. The place where Greeks would vote was called an Acropolis which was on type of a hill. There were different Greek Political structures and one was an aristocracy which was a government ruled by rich people. There was also an obligarchy which was a government held by wealthy people that earned their wealth. During the Greeks rule Tyrants took control which were people who were rich that ruled in the interest of ordinary people. Later a democracy starts which is a government that focus's on the equality of people. During that era a war called the Persian war took place between the Persians and the Greeks which was fought in a phalanx style which is a battle fought in formation style.

Greece is still apart of our lives today through the many philosophers like Socrates who inspired young people to think different and to question how they think. Another great philosopher was Plato who established a school and wrote books that dominated European philosophy.Another good philosopher was Aristotle who created the basis for the scientific method which is used today. One way Greece is apart of our lives today is through governemnt, they were the ones who invented a direct democracy which is what we use. Another way is through art like classical art which is statues and sculptures. Another form of art is plays with tragedy and comedy which we all know is in our life today.

King Philip was the father of Alexander the Great who dreamed of conquering Greece and attempted to and does but was killed. King Phillip was the king of Macedonia which were mountain villages north of Greece. While at reign Alexander the Great invades Persia and faces Darius II and captures them.
